AN ORGANIC WORKING FARM
Our farm covers 1700 acres high in the Serranía de Ronda, Andalucia; rolling land that drops from mountain crags and ancient oaks to groves of olives and almonds and into green valleys dotted with orchards, organic vegetable huertas and a vineyard. We keep sheep and goats, rare breed cattle, hens and bees, breed Lusitano horses, and keep a team of German Cold Bloods, mules and donkeys to help us work the land.
Our approach to farming is open and experimental; a mix of tradition and innovation, but based on permaculture design principles. The same principles underpin everything we do at La Donaira from green education and accommodation design to collaborative arts festivals.
And the come and go of volunteers, experts and guests from all walks of life brings fresh thinking – a sort of philosophical polyculture that seeds bright new ideas about better ways of going things in all areas of life.
