Wildlife
At La Donaira, we are privileged to share our sprawling 700 hectares of unspoiled nature with a rich tapestry of Iberian wildlife. Our land is a sanctuary for a diverse array of species, offering guests a unique opportunity to witness wildlife in its natural habitat including wild boar, roe deer and Ronda Ibex, a mountain goat native to this region.
Above us, the skies are patrolled by eagles and vultures, some of the largest birds of our continent. These raptors are not just a sight to behold but are essential to the ecological balance of our environment.
In our uncompromising commitment to preserving and enhancing biodiversity, we have initiated several conservation projects. Recognizing the crucial role of birds in our ecosystem, we have installed over 400 nesting boxes throughout the property. These nesting sites offer shelter and breeding spaces for a variety of birds, from small songbirds to larger species, encouraging them to thrive and maintain healthy populations.
In coming months, we are planning to construct bird hides (aviaries) to provide guests with discrete observation points, allowing for intimate wildlife experiences without disturbing the animals' natural behaviors. Additionally, we are excited to announce the development of a wildlife observatory equipped with a 24/7 live stream. This observatory will offer unprecedented access to the daily lives of the creatures that inhabit La Donaira, fostering a deeper connection and understanding of our local ecosystem.
By protecting wildlife & its habitat, we aim to create a harmonious environment where both nature and humanity can flourish. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in this living landscape—whether it's through guided nature walks, wildlife spotting, or simply enjoying the serenity that comes from being connected to the natural world.
