SUMMER CONCERTS IN LA DONAIRA: DIEGO AMADOR
The pianist Diego Amador called The Gypsy Ray Charles will be the star of the Summer Flamenco Cycle in La Donaira. A concert of flamenco piano and singing in the heart of Andalusia.
“Depth and elegance in the middle of nature”, this is how Diego Amador defines what will be his first concert on July 11 at Finca La Donaira, after being confined due to the global pandemic. “The feeling of playing live again after such a special situation is inexplicable,” says the pianist. And without a doubt, it will be for those lucky enough to attend the start of the Summer Flamenco Cycle.
Diego Amador has collaborated with the greatest flamenco stars such as Tomatito, Camarón de la Isla, Diego El Cigala, and Remedios Amaya, among others. With his album Rio de los Canasteros, he obtained his first nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards 2008 in the category of Best Flamenco Album. Later would come his album Live in Paris / Flamenco Jazz Tribute (2012), his tribute to the great masters who have given him inspiration. By 2013, when he recorded his sixth album, Scherzo Flamenco, he was already described by the international press as “one of the most brilliant flamenco pianists of all time”.
Between records, he always found time to share the stage with important music icons such as Chick Corea (considered one of the greatest voices of piano jazz), guitarist Pat Metheny, the legendary double bassist Charlie Haden, as well as Abraham Laboriel and Alex Acuña, among many others.
The year 2016 marked the beginning of a new musical phase in Diego’s artistic career. Along the side of renowned Cuban musician, arranger Alain Perez he explored the world of Salsa and Latin Rhythms and it incentivized his return to the studio. Miami was the inspiration to produce this, his most biographic record yet: Soy de las 3,000. He arrived in the company of two of the masters of music, his fellow countryman Alejandro Sanz and the Pharaoh of Salsa, Oscar De León. In 2019, he released his latest album Vivir with the Nuevos Medios label and nowadays it is in full launch promotion.
